Marinieves Alba (she/her/ella)

 
 

Marinieves Alba is a capacity building and strategy consultant, specializing in leadership, organizational development, culture and change management, conflict and repair, equity, and wellness. Marinieves is a community weaver with vast multi-sector experience in the arts, education, youth development, and social justice. She has worked in the international NGO and non-profit sector for over twenty five years, specializing in racial and cultural equity, cross-sectoral collaboration, and affiliate and multi-service network strategy. Her capacity building work includes professional development and training, facilitation, coaching, and program design. Marinieves uses holistic and culturally responsive strategies to cultivate multi-level leadership, organizational capacity, and sustainability in human-centered, mission driven organizations.

Marinieves holds degrees from Wesleyan University and New York University-Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, and graduate certificates from Fordham University and the International Institute of Restorative Practices (IIRP). She is also an alumna of the Third World Newsreel, WBAI/Pacifica, The Interaction Institute for Social Change, and the Rockwood Leadership Institute. Marinieves is a lifelong learner and educator who is certified or trained in topics related to leadership, restorative justice, facilitation, trauma and healing, media production, reiki, somatics, and mindfulness/MBSR.

Marinieves co-edited and contributed to groundbreaking social justice anthology Women Warriors of the Afro-Latina Diaspora (Arte Publico Press/University of Texas, 2012), and co-authored a chapter on Children’s Aid Society Community Schools Results in the global anthology, Developing Community Schools, Community Learning Centers, Extended-service Schools and Multi-service Schools: International Exemplars for Practice, Policy and Research (Springer International Publishing. Switzerland, 2016). Her poem "Every Breath Counts” is featured in We Got Issues: A Young Woman’s Guide to a Bold, Courageous, and Empowered Life. (Makawao: Inner Ocean Publishing, 2006). She is presently at work on a collection of essays about love and resistance.
